So, I'm not exactly looking for a "spy camera." But I'm curious if anybody knows anything about sunglass cams, button cams, etc.

I need a way to discreetly take a LOT of photos, and ideally the quality will be higher than a typical cameraphone.

Any ideas?

I'm intrigued by what you intend on doing.

Hey, sorry guys, I forgot that I posted this.

I need to take tons (100-200) of photos in stores on a pretty consistent basis. I generally have no problem with this; as long as I carry myself as someone doing his job on the up and up, everyone seems to assume that's what's happening. (And it is what's happening, but the store managers don't always appreciate the retail paparazzi, and I can't let that get in the way of a hot photo.)

So, does anybody have any ideas now?

What exactly are you going to be taking pictures of, though?

Aisles in the stores, employees, people shopping etc?

I see people taking pictures in stores all the time, mainly kids, but I've never seen anyone stop them. The busier the store the easier it'll be for you to get away with.

Signage, product displays, floorplans, lighting, product packaging, etc. I'll avoid people whenever possible.

I can generally get away with it no problem, but now I need to hire/train others to do it too. I will probably just train people how to respond when they do get caught/asked to leave, but I'd rather decrease the odds of them ever getting caught.

Decent mobile phone cameras would do the trick. Those can easily be disguised and someone could take a picture with their phone whilst pretending to talk at the same time (I've done it) as long as there's no shutter sound when the picture snaps.

ok, but what about these?!

Camera phones *might* do the trick, but we actually aim for higher megapixel shots because folks like to expand/zoom the photos. (Those glasses are just 1.3mp, so they probably wouldn't work either.)

Although this thing looks pretty sweet for all sorts of reasons:

There are a bunch of 5mp camera phones out there from Nokia, Samsung, Sony Ercisson and others. What's your budget?

Flexible. I want an iPhone but I wasn't thinking of the camphone possibility...

The iPhone only has a 2MP camera anyway, so if that's your primary reason for purchasing it I'd suggest going with something else.

If you want to go with actual cameras, check this out and search it by Format (Ultra Compact) and Weight (< 150g, 5.3 oz) and you'll get the smallest cameras available (within reason of course). You can also limit your search by your budget so it should narrow it down even more.

Nah, I was thinking of the iPhone for everything else. Camera was an afterthought.
