Taken with my D40 and kit lens. Which sunset picture do you like better?

Also, I took the top one because my dad spends a lot of time riding the four-wheeler around his property, and the dog loves to ride along.

Love the dog lol.

I really like the colors in your photos (this and the other set your shared). Are these with the default settings?

Almost the default. I went into the Image Optimization menu (I think that's the name), changed to custom, and bumped the Saturation up to +. That's what Ken Rockwell recommends in his D40 user guide.

I know a lot of serious camera enthusiasts hate Ken Rockwell, but I figure he knows more than me, so it's worth a shot. The only issue with turning the saturation up is that if you're trying to do an indoor portrait, you might get too much color in the faces.
