|
|
Alright well last night I was browsing ebay and picked up a refurbished core system for $197 shipped. Although I didn't want to buy a 360 on ebay, it felt like it was a good deal so I jumped on it. I just have a few questions about the warranty & xbox live.
From what I read, Microsoft extended the ROD warranty to 3 years now? So if the 360 I get happens to get the ROD, I could send it back to microsoft and they will replace it no questions asked? (Only if the system was purchased within 3 years) But I wont need to show them any proof of purchase?
Also, im gonna spend the majority of my xbox playing time on cod & halo 3 and its a must to have live with those games. Im gonna need a HD for live? What about a memory card? (64mb, 256mb or 512mb) I could pickup a used HD on ebay for around $50 give or take, but then im gonna have to wait another 5 days or so for that to get shipped to my house, and im an impatient person Could I go somewhere, buy a 64mb mem card just so I can play live, or will that not be enough memory? Eventually i plan on buying a HD, but I have to pay a buttload of money in tickets so im kinda on a budget for now.
Thanks guys! |

In case of an ROD, you call 1-800-4-MYXBOX and they will ask for your console's serial number, verify some things with you over the phone and send out a box. You put the Xbox in said box (which is prepaid) and your local UPS delivery person will pick it up.

My Halo 3 Save Data is 10 MB, My COD 4 Save Data is 972 KB and my Xbox Live Profile is 7 MB... You should be fine using a 64 MB card until you get a Hard Drive. |

Thanks for the info h3x.. Yesterday I went to gamestop, traded in a bunch of shit, became an "edge" member and picked up a refurb 20gig HD and COD 4 for... $12 (Along with $100+ store credit, lol)
Im just praying that this system still has the warranty seal on it. But I figure worst case scenario, i'll send it back to MS and give them the whole $140 for another system if mine fails. That still beats having to go out and shed out $280 for a new arcade. |

There's a good chance that the seal is broken if the seller has more than one he is selling or has sold. |

And as for my friend's experience... The box took a month to get to his house, then another 2 months to get your x360 box, maybe longer.
I experienced ROD but I still had warranty on bestbuy. I just simply returned my x360 with receipts and gave me a brand new x360 along with two new games |

When I had to send my 360 in, it took 3 days for the box to arrive. I sent it out the next day and I got it back about 10 days later. In total it was about 15 days for everything. This was the same for a friend who also got the RROD. Your friend had some serious bad luck if it took 3 months . |

| I was thinking about buying an RRoD'ed Xbox from eBay and send it in to MS myself, but it seems most of the "as-is" systems have the warranty seal broken. Is there a way to fix it myself? |

There is the "X-Clamp fix" and Team-Xecuter (makers of the Xecuter mod chips for the Original Xbox) has made their own "fix"...
http://www.team-xecuter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47436
MSRP is $9.95
Neither have my seal of approval (since I've never used them, so do so at your own risk). Though I must say that Team-Xecuter made the best Xbox1 mod chips, but thats all that I can vouch about their products. |

| Usually with mod-chips you can't access Xbox Live though... |
