Not exactly new news, but I'm sure it's news to some of you. Timbaland, the guy who made that single with Nelly Furturdo, stole a song from the 8-bit demo scene to make his song "Do It".

DIGG It:
http://digg.com/music/Timbaland_ripped_off_a_track_from_my_buddy

Analytical Video Comparison:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4KX7SkDe4Q

Another Great Listen of the ringtone. Same shit
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wV2fTEeP6GM

Download the Original MOD:
(this is what Timbaland ripped off) USE VLC TO LISTEN TO MOD

The original artist of the song is a Finnish chiptune guy called Janne Suni. He has not made a dime off this, meanwhile Timbaland is raking in millions. I love chip music, but Timbaland basically based his whole song on the exact melody. It's not a "sample", it's a direct cut-n-paste.

It's no secret that pop musicians have little or no true talent, but this is really pissing me off...

The RIAA protects artists from getting their music stolen but its ok for their artists to steal from users. Fuck them.

come on now... it doesn't make any sense for others to deny others to use your beat when they can make a good song out of it. do u see the Finnish guy complaining? if he was a true artist he would be proud that his beat helped someone else out.

what is the world coming to.... people cant use a beat to have on his music.... sad!

the main question is ... did the guy who made the beat sue?

I sure fucking hope he does sue!!
It is not about being "proud that his beat helped someone else out." Hey, let me steal your wallet. You should be proud that your money helps pay my tuition!

Dude ripped off someone else's hard work and passed it off as his own. Fucker. I hate it when they do this. You need to get permission and give credit. Period. Didnt "Dr" Dre lose a court battle for this?

what is the world coming to.... people cant make a beat to have on their own music.... sad!

Thats like saying kanye west's golddigger song stole a beat off a 70's song....

Nothing new. Where the hell do you think Timbalands going to give credit? In the song?

"Yo wattup this is DJ Timbaland in the building all credits to this beat go out to some random French dude."

Please

But he stole the whole song!

A big point is the RIAA. They defend stealing music from artists and sue adults and children alike yet could care less when one of their artists steals from an ordinary person

Or somewhere in the CD jacket possibly.. but I agree, obviously he wouldn't do it in the song.

Royalty check?

Are you all saying you are stalkers and know who Timbaland sends money to and who he rips off of?

For all you know this Finnish dude could be swimming in cash because he provided a sample for a popular American Pop Star.

Most likely though hes gaining publicity and for some no name Finnish Dude, thats enough I'd say. Timbaland probably found the song on http://www.freesamplesrus.com. All I gotta say is stop making assumptions.

Find me an official news report that Timbaland officially jacked from this dude and is being sued, then I will apologize for being wrong.

Timbaland is probably top 5 producer in the game right now, I think anyone would be honored to have their song on his beat.

Interesting read. Also don't get me wrong. If the Finnish guy isnt getting paid, he should. Timbaland shouldn't have much problem paying that off, but if he refuses it is pretty dick.

Well, according to both the Digg article and the video comparison, it says he has not been paid, and they are looking for a lawyer to sue (although he'll never win, unless has a lot of time, and a lot of money).

As for your link, while if it was some hard-to-track down artist, I could understand, but it seems to me once the artist finds out and contacts you, you should pay the man.

And Veek, the only reason I get so annoyed about shit like this is because I know as a musician myself, if anyone jacked any of my work and made money without me getting anything (publicity, a check, etc.), I'd be pissed. I'm sure you'd be pissed too.
