I saw a truck pull up and thought. This looks like a frieght truck. Then he said something was in my name. I said to myself this cant be, im only 5.5 weeks since my voucher was processed. Well there it was when he opened the truck!!

Now what to do with my Panny SDTV 36" which has served me right for 3 years

make a website called smash my TV and have people donate enough cash so you can buy a new 42 in plasma HDTV, then show a video of you smashing your old tv

thus earning you two hdtv's for free

hahaha.

BTW Does this come with a stand?

No stand, no speakers.

Seriously folks, large plasmas and LCD TV's rarely if ever come with a stand. Many/most people who buy flat panels will wall-mount them, and wouldn't want to pay extra for the stand.

And since it's a monitor and not actually a TV, it has no speakers either.

Well I have an excellant JBL 5.1 system with S312 towers, SCenter and S26 rears.

I could care less about that. What stand would fit this tv from bestbuy. I have $100 in giftcards there and want to pick one up.

Ill bypass on the mount cause im at home and moving out in 4-5 months

Not paying a pro $700 to mount a $300 mount at the moment

A universal plasma stand would fit, not sure what BB has. I do know they're expensive as hell though. I did a PriceGrabber hunt for universal 42" plasma stands and the cheapest was about $300.

No need to pay $700 for installation and $300 for a mount either. I bought a $98 mount from Wal-Mart and mounted it myself in about 10 minutes. Granted I didn't run the cables through the wall yet, but if you're moving you wouldn't want to do that anyway.

Of course if you're renting then they may frown on you drilling 4 large holes in the wall. lol

If they don't find you at home, they usually call to schedule another day/time.

I'll be getting one too, what's a good wall mount for this model?

Would something like this work?

What type and model is it? If it's a Panasonic TH42PWD8UK you can get a stand for about $200 on eBay.

I know we PM'd on this, but I'll repeat for anybody interested

Studs are easy to find. In the US they are normally set 16" apart, so find one and you're on the way to finding the adjacent one. If you don't have an electronic stud finder (BTW the $98 Wal-Mart mount I bought came with a lifreeli stud finder, not as nice as my big yellow one, but sufficient), then you can use the old fashioned "knock" technique. To be sure you have the stud, take a long, thin nail and nail it through the drywall. If you miss, you'll know, and the hole won't be too big.

Mark the adjacent studs, put the mounting plate up on the wall and use a bubble level (also included with my wall mount) to get it level, then mark the spots on the stud lines for the screw holes. Piece o' cake!

Seriously, it took me all of 10 minutes to completely mount this plasma on the bedroom wall, and it looks awesome.
