I find that the guys tend to not give us great deals b/c we're females. Once this idiot made me sit for two hours (one to wait and one to listen to him) so that he could talk to me about financing [i04ee07d286]when I already told him I was paying cash for my car in full!! [/i04ee07d286] It was a wasted 2 hours in my life. I could have done something productive... like be on this forum. stupid fool. D

Maybe you can bring your brother along.

well I spent a month researching, so I went in going "i want to pay invoice + tax, tags, license" and they wouldn't budge on the 800 dollar difference between what they wanted and what I wanted for the accord.

Screw em. more money for me to roll around in naked.

Dude, it was so horrible. they offered me 100 dollars for my trade in. 100 dollars. then asking 18.8 for the honda on the LAST DAY OF THE MONTH, refusing to deal was too much.

Screw em. I don't know why the car industry likes to act like they're doing us a favor selling us a car, but they can go to hell.

It's down there somewhere, it's a check, not the real Vespa, but the money bought me a Ninja, so I upgraded D. Anyway, love the mutual respect, and I still vote we have special avatars for those who've pulled in 10K plus in freebies.

I don't imagine you need my input but here it is

Try calling the new car sales manager directly in the middle of the month. Tell him your offer and let him know you will only work with the salesman, if necessary, to do the paperwork after you and him (manager) agree on the offer. Also look around when they are closed and pick out your car, so you can tell him the exact car you want.

In my experience, the longer it sits on the lot the harder it is to negotiate due to all the extra interest paid that the dealer has to re-coup. There is a dealer in town that will sell you a new trailblazer (2006) for less and with more options that he can sell the only 2005 he has left sitting on his lot.

That end of the month thing doesn't work if they have already met their quota, in which case there is more incentive for some to screw with you in hopes you will be back in a few days. They generally keep track of the quota results on the managers wall as incentive. You could go in near the end of the month to "look around" and try to catch a glimpse of where they are on meeting their goals. Or find the salesman who has sold the least on the chart and request him.

Honda is hard to deal with. If they do not charge a paperwork fee I would offer $200-$300 over invoice and then try to get a bunch of oil changes and fill ups out of them to make up the difference. My last two chevy's I bought around $800 under invoice, but Chevy has a different price, affiliate, and retirement structure than Honda. HTH

now tell me how to get all those freebies

This is very good advice. I knew I was supposed to be dealing with the "fleet manager" but when I couldn't find the fax machine numbers on the honda website, I just took the easier way out and did the email quotes. Clearly, not a grand idea... Now my ego is bruised since I feel 18K is a small fortune and these people turned their nose up. I don't know whether I really will buy a car or not now.. but just in case...

I guess I'll spend the next week or so compiling lists of the fleet managers & fax numbers, and hope for the best.

nahh, I don't play that route.. why invest and make percentages when I can buy and sell items and double my money in a day?

after deductions, I should owe less than 2 grand, and I'm perfectly willing to have a child to offset that.

An asian child. Named Mei-Ling.

I love her already.
