The text isn't fantastic, but a high refresh rate and ClearType helps a lot.

Think you could perhaps recommend a good refresh rate

off topic question...what version of XP are you using? ive never seen an XP Startup screen without it saying Home or Professional on it

It's XPPRO with the early-release "Release to vendor" service pack 2 installed. The service pack is the full network install and everything so it just replaces either boot screen with a universal one.

"that's a gay flat screen" is not a contributing comment. And yes, if a member who generally posts decent messages posts "mini sux" I'm probably less likely to object. But you make a habit of it.

If you use a DVI cable ClearType is unncessary. If you use VGA, text looks like crap.

Problem with that is there is no DVI connector, only VGA

There must be something wrong...I mean, right with mine because everything looks great.
Make sure to change your resolution. I just switched it down one to 1280x960 and it looked like shit. I'm running it at 1280x1024 now and it looks perfect.

Yeah, for me the key turned out to be turning ClearType OFF. I just fiddled with settings, especially turning brightness and contrast WAY down. The auto-configure is worthless as far as I can tell.

^agreed. my brightness is at 34 and contrast is at 71.

with my standard 17'' monitor, 1280x1024 is extremely small and difficult to read...does that happen with the flat screen too?
