I also received mine today as well... Does all text look like shit on yours or do I just not know how to adjust it?

Admin

The text isn't fantastic, but a high refresh rate and ClearType helps a lot.

Neversky

and I do this how?

Think you could perhaps recommend a good refresh rate

Admin

17-09-2004 18:22:09

70Hz is the most my card will put out.

Neversky

17-09-2004 18:25:05

The highest I can go is 75... So Im guessing the higher the better???

Admin

17-09-2004 18:25:52

As a general rule.

Neversky

17-09-2004 18:30:02

Well 85 is the highest the screen will go... Looks good... Fonts still look kinda crappy though... I kinda dont like that...

Mine is greeeatttt...

At first it was stretched weird, so I just upped my resolution to 1280x1024 and it looks great. Text and all. I love this )

off topic question...what version of XP are you using? ive never seen an XP Startup screen without it saying Home or Professional on it

Admin

18-09-2004 09:51:56

It's XPPRO with the early-release "Release to vendor" service pack 2 installed. The service pack is the full network install and everything so it just replaces either boot screen with a universal one.

that's a gay flat screen

wasnt that a part of the conversation? like when people talks about minis, people say mini sux and u dont say anything about it. just cuz i speak the truth, but if u get mad i wont do it again ^_^

Mini's don't suck, either does this flat screen.

yeah... It's off tha heezy. How much would this cost to buy?

Admin

18-09-2004 12:48:09

"that's a gay flat screen" is not a contributing comment. And yes, if a member who generally posts decent messages posts "mini sux" I'm probably less likely to object. But you make a habit of it.

It costs about $370-$400.

If you use a DVI cable ClearType is unncessary. If you use VGA, text looks like crap.

Neversky

19-09-2004 21:48:24

Problem with that is there is no DVI connector, only VGA

Nabs

19-09-2004 22:17:35

There must be something wrong...I mean, right with mine because everything looks great.

Make sure to change your resolution. I just switched it down one to 1280x960 and it looked like shit. I'm running it at 1280x1024 now and it looks perfect.

Admin

19-09-2004 22:29:45

Yeah, for me the key turned out to be turning ClearType OFF. I just fiddled with settings, especially turning brightness and contrast WAY down. The auto-configure is worthless as far as I can tell.

Nabs

19-09-2004 22:31:28

^agreed. my brightness is at 34 and contrast is at 71.

with my standard 17'' monitor, 1280x1024 is extremely small and difficult to read...does that happen with the flat screen too?

Neversky

20-09-2004 00:18:01

I have mine at 1280x 1024 and it looks just fine... I have really bad vision and I can read it

Greg

21-09-2004 14:38:56

Neversky

21-09-2004 14:45:28

Lucky you... Mine looked like shit when I first set it up, and I couldnt figure out why, but now it looks great so I have no worriet now..

Evil_Prof_Frink

21-09-2004 14:46:49

weird... i dunno, looks exactly like my other monitor... just smaller, (replaced 19" flatscreen that weighed about 200 lbs)
