Received Gateway Laptop From FreeDesktopPc.Com!

Yep. I received my laptop a week ago, but accidently forgot my camera at a friends house so I could not get pictures for you guys. However, I've had many people ask me for pictures and details on the laptop.

This was the process

[b35fe5e9cd2]August 15th[/b35fe5e9cd2] - Started the FreeDesktopPc.com account.

[b35fe5e9cd2]August 31st[/b35fe5e9cd2] - Last person greened for me / Sent for Approval.

[b35fe5e9cd2]September 1st[/b35fe5e9cd2] - Approved! Got the E-mail about the W-9 form. Jake gave me info on where to fax it and he took it HIMSELF to the appropriate people in the Freepay office so that my order was processed faster. At that time, Karen from Freepay contacted me to let me know about the laptop change, to which I accepted.

[b35fe5e9cd2]September 2nd[/b35fe5e9cd2] - Order was placed on Gateway.com (if you get this laptop, ask me how to track it before Freepay gives you tracking info)

[b35fe5e9cd2]September 9th[/b35fe5e9cd2] - Shipped! They estimated the arrival to be September 14th.

[b35fe5e9cd2]September 12th[/b35fe5e9cd2] - Arrived via FedEx in the morning.

...and I was so excited. It's a great laptop. I need to upgrade the memory though. That's all. D

Yeah, it's a light. It changes all different colors depending if the battery is low, when it's on stand by, charging, charged, etc. D

I didn't have it plugged in. But I have a Netgear adapter. Here's the link to it

I bought a Router/Adapter package on Ebay for $50 though. It was a great buy and the installation is great and fast. I don't mind the card one bit.

No. There's a "laptop change" thread in the freepay site forum all about it.

I did FDPC ages ago, and would kill for a laptop, so this is pretty painful to me.

I'd do a full Gratis laptop site in a minute, so Jake....well, you know. ;)

They sell the RAM upgrade on the Gateway website. They cost around $100 dollars, so I don't mind that.

And yes, I took the photos with my Canon Digital Rebel. How did ya figure? P

That's why the laptops are listed as limited time offers. I'm sure they don't know how long they'll have a reliable vendor like gateway to order 600 dollar laptops from.

They put a laptop on the site to test to see how many people would go for the laptop instead of the PC. That way they'd know if they could pull off a full laptop website. So far so good. D

p.s. i HATE how wide this lappie is, i mean i'll LOVE watching dvd's on that bad boy but for regualar use it just looks bloated/fat/clumsy/hummer-y... lol... and yeah 100 bucks for ram upgrade? depends on how much ram but it's still a bit too much i think.
