Well I signed up for it December of last year I believe. But I got all the referrals on my own without trades or paypal thats why it took so long. The timeline once I completed my requirements was about 1 month. from ordering it to recieving it. I havent hooked it up yet but I turned it on looks real nice and it comes with a simple black logitech keyboard, black mouse, and some speakers. So I am pretty happy. Oh yeah you can barely even hear it very quiet. D

I connected it and man this thing is smooth!! it has 3 fans and temprature control. I kicked up to 1.24 ghz last night by adding another stick 512mb of ram. Then I installed firefox and applied the tweaks! lightning fast page loads. Very quick dl's. There is only one thing that dont look right! it has a card reader and the card reader cable is connected to the video card with a piece of scotch tape! lol...... I dont know whats up with that but other than that This computer is the Shit considering the price. D And I swear it is so quiet you really cant hear it unless your trying to.

AMD processors are bottom-of-the-line.

Bookerman

02-07-2005 11:03:05

AMD bottom-of-the-line? Some benchmarks will favor Intel and some AMD depending on the processor at a particular price point. But, your universal statement is not necessarily true.

About the scotch tape to the video card That wire should be a temperature probe originating from the fan control. Likewise, there are taped wires to both the cpu heatsink and hard drive.

oh is that what it is? thanks! and as for the AMD being bottom of the line. Yo your Nuking Futz Dude! Before I even choose between the Intel p4 and AMD 64 I did a whole lot of research and asked for suggestions from computer geeks through Computer Geek groups and they were really helpful and 98% of the people who responded to my posts on AMD 64 vs Intel p4 all recommended AMD hands down. As a matter of fact alot of them said they would never get an P4 most of them were pro AMD. Not only that just go to google and type in AMD 64vs. Intel p4 and you will see the benchmark results. Do your research. I'm Loving this computer. AMD Rulez! my other computer is an older AMD and it still kicks Ass! P

so when you say you got it up to 1.24Ghz....is that an extra 1.24 or 1.24 total?

Fice

02-07-2005 15:07:45

It came with 512 mb of ram and then I added another 512 to 1.24 total and it still has room for 3 more sticks of ram.

02-07-2005 15:10:10

512MB + 512MB = 1024MB = 1GB

Did it come with just the tower alone or did it have extras? I had read about some people getting speakers and keyboards with their cyberpower machines. Also did you get all of the manuals, were there any broken/doa parts? I'm still having a hard time choosing between this and the Dell (mostly because of build quality issues that I've heard about).

EDIT

anyone know if the cyberpower can be overclocked and if so, what to?

Bookerman

02-07-2005 23:13:14

Not easily as the motherboard only allows small changes voltage changes and the fact that the bus is not locked. One website reviewing this motherboard yielded no stable overclock above 10%.

No broken parts everything came nice and neatly packed. Yeah I also heard that dell sucks. I was going to get the dell 4700 because it seemed like a better deal but I asked around in computer group got second and third opinions and it seemed like everyone picked AMD over Intel. I even gave them specs to compare and AMD was the favored system. My personal opinion I've been on it all day and this beauty is fast. Heres a pic of all the accessories and software. Those are just extra cables that they sent with it.

yea XP was already installed all you have to do is install SP2 and updates and activate. No there was no other software installed. There was like trial version of Mc Afee and earthlink tool bar for IE but I uninstalled all that then installed all my other programs like norton system works, firewall, firefox, etc..... kind of feels good to actually own windows xp Im going to upgrade to professional pretty soon.

the main problem is it conflicting with alot of programs and software.

Ugh, I didn't even know that about SP2. Maybe I should reinstall with sp1 lol

Bookerman

03-07-2005 15:36:05

That article dealt with security, not with compatibility. SP2 is already installed on the Cyberpower by default, and SP2 is also what they bundle on the CD. Since the machine is brand new, I think a wise choice would be to install everything you normally use and run it a few days to see if there are any issues. My guess is the answer will be no.

Collateral

03-07-2005 15:47:30

I never have had issues with SP2

EDIT I also think that it could lead people with a false sense of security since there is a build in firewall. I always have Sygate Pro running along with SP2.

Phbs83

03-07-2005 16:26:17

That article is from 2004, so I wouldn't even consider it 100% accurate anymore. SP2 had a rough start, but everything is going well now I believe. The only problem I had so far is with Klient (www.klient.com) but it can be considered Klient's developer fault - [ba6c1018bc3]everything[/ba6c1018bc3] else works great, and even a tad faster (subjectively) . My machine with SP2 runs perfectly nice, and I would recommend it over SP1 any day.

Some of you guys are idiots...
AMD Processers benchmark way better than Intel processors when it comes to comparable clock speeds; and they are significantly better for general gaming.
AMD64 > Pentium 4/E any day
