Let me explain from the beginning
A few months ago my college got a new food at the dining hall... "Chicken Blasters"... the company that made this (absolutely delicious yet positively processed and nasty) food had a "win an ipod mini!" contest that i entered... thinking nothing of it.
i called up my dad today and he said i got a package in the mail from "barber foods".. he asked me what it was and if he should put it in the fridge... i told him to open it up.
inside was a brand new 4GB silver ipod mini and a note about the chicken blasters.

Congrats on that, anyone else signed up for one of those silly promotional contests and won something? One time I filled out a form on my radio stations website for some free Dallas Stars Tickets, 2 months later I found them in my mail in an envelope with no note attached, took me a week to remember why I had received them. Sold them promptly on ebay and made 100.00

I entered a drawing for lollapalooza tickets last year and ended up winning a pair. Got to see jane's addiction, incubus, rooney, the donnas and some others for free so it was pretty cool

Congrats, rabbis.
I've gotten several things over the years for just entering contests and winning without having to put out anymore effort than filling out my name somewhere.
The two that stand out were Puddle of Mudd and backstage meet and greet tickets in Las Vegas. All I had to do was reply to a text msg I got and 2 weeks later, I got a call saying I won and could I be in Vegas by 7pm the next night. 2hrs later, we were in the car driving to Vegas.
The other was winning a Nokia N-Gage QD gaming phone. I had to tell my most embarrasing gadget story. Here's the link to the story on Engadget.com

I have a friend who is a "professional contenstant." He spends most of his days at work entering online drawings and contests. A few of his winnings 4 digital cameras, 2 PDAs, home theater (including 55 inch projection TV, CD/DVD player, Harmon Kardon sound system), 7-day cruise on Nerwegian Cruise Lines.
Plus, he took me on an all-expense paid trip to the Orange Bowl (Miami) back in January. He won it from a Russell Athletics contest during college football season.

The funny thing is that he wins so much stuff that he has actully been bumped up a bracket or two the past several years. He almost declined the Orange Bowl trip, but they gave him $700 cash --- which he used to cover the additional taxes.
