DHL guy was pulling out the driveway after he barely knocked on the door. i would have been really pissed if he had left. anyway, the thing is pretty damn sweet (i didnt get the spidey umd) except for quite a large cluster of stuck pixels in the lower right corner. its pretty distracting on parts of the game with letterbox bars because they really show. oh well. . .

I thought that these free psps may have some dead pixels. I'm thinking of selling my psp (when i get it....it will remain unopened) and go buy one at my local walmart with a warranty in case of dead pixels. (that is, if gratis ever approves my account)

Go to your local Walmart or Target and buy one off the shelf. Take the Gratis one back in it's place using the receipt from your previous purchase. They both have very good "no questions asked" return policies if you have a receipt.

Walmart would probably even do an even-exchange if you took it back without a recipt. Just tell them it was a gift and it is not working right. They'll give you another...

the pixels are actually 'stuck' rather than 'dead' - they show up as bright spots on a dark background. i dont notice it at all in game, just on static, dark backgrounds. maybe they'll clear up in a few days.

I've got 5 stuck pixels on mine (purchased not free) that aren't in a cluster so the only way I notice them is when the screen is showing pitch black. No big deal at all. With all these complaints though, Sony will probably ship out psps with a different screen in their next batch.

Those are dead pixels, lol.

Some can "come back to life", but its a normal thing with LCD screens. Can't all be perfect.

I'm pretty sure dead pixels are pixels that won't light. Stuck pixels are ones that will only display a certain color.

Dead pixels are pixels that are on when theres a black screen, or black when theres a white screen. Also can be some other colors.. I would return the PSP. Sony gave people a hard time about dead pixels but said if you have a huge clump of them you're entitled to return it.

Anyone interested in getting a better idea of their pixel state, download the Dead Pixel Checker. This is nothing but a collection of different color backgrounds that you can upload to the memory stick. View them and you will know exactly how many dead/stuck pixels you have.

I have one dead one in the top left of my screen, but didn't even know until I ran DP Checker screens.
