Hey,

So I want to setup a server that holds the music and video files for iTunes but I want to be able to access it from all computers. I don't want a shared library (like the option in iTunes) because I can't transfer songs to my iPod then. I want the library to reflect all my music and be accessible and syncable from all my computers.

is this possible?

I suppose you could set up each ipod in disk mode, i.e. turn off auto-sync, and then sync the ipod each time. However, if you do that, the ipod is overwritten entirely, not differentially, and so over a network would take absolutely forever.

Well I have all my iPods in Manual mode so I can just drag any song from any library anywhere into the iPod. The problem with that at my house is that some computers dont have the music i want to burn. would it be possible to have burning capabilities over a netowrk?

Don't know much about it, but http//www.toggle.com/lv/group/view/kl37853/NeroNET.htm

Download it here ftp//ftp5.de.nero.com/software/Nero6/NeroNET-1.2.0.2.exe

Also I found elsewhere "The Alcohol 120% v1.9.5.4212 comes with iSCSI server feature that allows to share a CD/DVD writer over a network by installing Alcohol 120% in the machine with the DVD burner that you want to share (for other in the network use it to burn) and a Microsoft iSCSI Software Initiator in the client computer that wants to use the server DVD burner to burn its own DVDs."
