I'm thinking of purchasing a 42" plasma, but the downfall is it has a pretty serious burn in. Is there a way to get rid of this or does anyone know how much pars would cost to replace whatever needs to be replaced to fix the burn in? This is the model # i think - PX-42VP4DA

No, stay away. Plasma burn-in is pretty much permanent. The only way I'd take that TV is if it were free or maybe $20. I couldn't stand actually looking at the degree of burn-in. There is no repair of a plasma panel, it can only be replaced, which would cost more than the TV is worth.
That person should have known better than to leave a static XBOX image on a plasma.
It would cost $300 for the tv, and the burn in isn't from the xbox, its from the tv being used at a airport I think, you can see it behind the xbox screen. He just turned his xbox on to show what the burn in would be like with something playing.

Ah, I had a hard time seeing from the scaled down photos what was from the XBOX and what was from burn-in.
Still, same outcome. No way I personally would spend $300 for that, it would drive me nuts. I guess it depends on how bad you want a big screen for $300. Personally I'd think you'd be better off saving up a few hundred more and going for a cheap Vizio or Sanyo (or maybe a refurb).
