I'm wanting to buy a laptop, as cheap as possible. At least 120gb drive if not better, and 2gb memory. So far from what i'm finding Acer seems to be the cheapest. Any experience with them?

I've always heard they weren't that hot. What are the specs and price? Usually there are some pretty good Dell's on eBay for around $600.

FOAFY's is an ASUS, not an Acer. P

Acer is decent, but is definitely a budget brand. I wouldn't spend a lot on one, but for limited use they tend to be okay.

Asus is a really nice brand; I don't know how TFOAF managed to break it.

I didn't break it. It's just overheating for whatever reason.

I have the Acer Travelmate 8200. Bought it about a year and a half ago. So far its been great. It was a great value for the hardware (back then), and its it hasnt had any problems so far.

Only thing to think about is that the laptop produces quite a bit of heat, so the fan exhaust is quite hot. It's really not a problem though.

I think I might go with one of those. It might be a bit more expensive, but there's some pretty nice ones on there.

What i'd really like to do is get a Macbook Pro, but I don't have $2000 haha

Why do you say that? I've always heard good things about Dell laptops...

Check your local Best Buy. I was in there today and they were discounting several models (including floor models) so that they could make room for new ones. ) There were several models under $600.
