My computer was having major problems, I couldn't even start Windows up. So I put a new hard drive in and formatted that. Now I put the old hard drive in as a slave drive so I can get some of my old files. However my account was password protected so I cant get into my old My Documents. Is there any way to get into those files?

linux can, I think if you boot off a liveCD you can browse the windows partition and then copy over your My Documents folder to a thumb drive or whatever.

Yeah.
I'm pretty sure this is possible.
My friend told me he had done this in a similar situation.

The CD is based on linux, it's bootable through our computer. You don't have to be running linux.

Download the "Live CD".
It lets you test drive the OS when you burn it onto a CD.
You don't have to install the OS or anything, it all runs off the disk.
Then you do what guelah75 said.

Right there.
Just make sure you burn the image to a CD. Don't just copy the image onto the cd, otherwise it won't work properly.
