I've had both a Linksys and a D-link wireless router, and I've been happy with both. In terms of best range for a big house, it all depends on how big the house, where the router is set up, and where the computer(s) will be.
Linksys makes a wireless router that's supposed to be one of the longest range routers on the market. I might would go with that.

[quote2c0f0adcdf="dmorris68"]As I've mentioned before, I'm not a Linksys fan, nor do I like D-Link.
IMO Buffalo and Netgear make the best SOHO gear, with my current favorite being Buffalo. I have the extended range
WHR-HP-G54[=http//www.amazon.com/Buffalo-WHR-HP-G54-Wireless-G-Performance-Router/dp/B000AOKTJ8]WHR-HP-G54 that is switchable between router and access-point mode (I only use access points). Buffalo stuff is really well made. A lot of the home-line of Netgear isn't as rugged as it used to be, but they're still better made than Linksys IMO.[/quote2c0f0adcdf]
right on preciate it!
