My symantec corporate edition is always disabled auto protect. I get the gold shield with the red slash through it. ok so I right click it and click enable. works for about 3 seconds, then it goes back to the red slash and its not enabled. it's really annoying and I know I have spyware because this pop-up that comes up every like 30 minutes.

any solutions/other free antivirus protection or spyware protection?

Thanks in advance and +karma

Probably have to go through one of those long step by step manuals on malware forums that will kill an afternoon for sure.

While Symantec Corporate is a little better than the Norton Home version, I still despise their AV. It sounds like you either have a corrupted install, or as someone said, an expired license.

If you're running Symantec Corporate at home, then I have to guess it's not entirely legit, eh? That is quite likely your problem too.

I always recommend AVG Free[=http//free.grisoft.com]AVG Free as a free AV for personal use. It has served me, my friends, and customers very well for years now.

And we've had numerous threads on this, so you should be able to search and find all sorts of suggestions for AV and anti-malware tools. The best anti-spyware tool IMO is a-squared, and they have a free version.

Yeah, I had my computer being reformatted and when he gave it back he said he installed it on there for me. So I guess that's the case. I'll check out AVG free, thanks.

A-squared is the truth...

I think symantec is good but it's good for 1 year (corporate version) so you might want to uninstall that version and get another version, also I have that some spyware can actually disable it as well so look out for that....

Try that aol antivirusshield, it's powered by Kaspersky but without the proactive shield, it's pretty good though since it cleaned up over 300 viruses and trojans from a friends pc.

Norton Corporate is a lifetime license.
