For those who have an iPhone check this out
http//code.google.com/p/telekinesis/
I'm actually looking for help using this it requires me to forward ports 5010 but I have no idea how to do this tried googling it and its just confusing the hell out of me. I have been reading the discussion topics and I still can't figure it out, it looks like this is the way to do it because I just need some way to do some of the stuff. If anyone can help me +K
1. went to dyndns.org and set up an free service and chose a domain.
2. went to the ddns setting on my router and used my user name,
password and domain that i got from dyndns.org
3. setup port forwarding for port 5010
4. went to my iphone and typed https//domain.homedns.org5010/
(domain= the domain name you chose at dyndns.org)
i used dyndns.org because it was an option in my router.
and it worked. make sure remote is running on your mac.

You typically cannot access a server's internet interface from within the same internal network, i.e. you can't go out of your router and back in. You can only access the server internally, via its local IP. You would need to VPN or proxy through another server that comes back into your network, or use a second dial-up account. When I'm testing internet access into my own servers, I either VPN through work and come back in from there, or I use the dial-up account that my ISP issues me for travel access.
Did you configure your router to forward port 5010 to the internal IP address you're trying to reach?

No I have no clue how to do that I have a DLink DI-604 Router, a lot of people on the discussion boards say it works very well but I just can't figure out how to configure some of the router settings. Those steps were instructions I found on the msg boards.

Thats exactly where I went and I still couldn't figure it out, just got confused out my mind.
Here are some better instructions I found but its for a Linksys
warmcola it is pretty easy to connect to your mac.
First login to you router and go to the application and gaming tab.
Then click on port range fowarding.
Next you need to put in start and end port 5010. You may also want to
put in a entry for port 5012 if your going to want to stream music to
your phone. The protocol can be both and then put in your mac's local
ip address. Save the changes you made.
Now go into System preference then click sharing. If your firewall is
on you are going to have to open ports 5010 and 5012.
In the sharing tab click firewall then click the new button. Port name
choose other then enter port 5010 for tcp and udp and give it a
description. Do the same for port 5012.
Once that is done you have to make sure that iphone remote is running
on your mac. You can add it to you startup by going to systme
preferences>accounts> click on you user account and then click login
items. Hit the + sign and add iPhone remote.app.
Once that is done you are going to need to know your routers WAN ip
address. You can get it easily by going to the website whatismyip.com
and it will give you your IP address.
Once all that is done open safari on the iPhone and got to https//WAN
IP address5010. and it should prompt you for you login.
