I set up my TV so it pipes all audio out of the built in receiver into my actual sony receiver / surround sound system. The problem is, is the audio coming out of the tv is very quiet, even with the receiver maxed out. Any way to fix this? It's a sharp aquos lcd tv.

you should set it up so the sound from the cable box or other audio goes straight into the receiver

instead of into the TV

yeah, if you're using a receiver, you disable the TV's speakers and connect your audio outputs from the TV source into your receiver inputs. The receiver's speakers will play the audio.

I dont always want to use my big surround sound system, In fact, most of the time I dont want to use it. So I would like to pipe all my video and audio inputs into my tv directly and use the audio output to my reciever so I can use it at will for any device. Any advice for this setup?

if you are using RCA cords you could get a splitter for the RED and WHITE RCA's

http//www.cables4computer.com/ProductSearch/ProductPages/AUD-1500-01.html

then run the sound to both the TV and the reciever

probably lose some more quality

not sure of any other setups

Not sure why you want to do that, it almost completely defeats the benefit of having a receiver/amp. You'll be pushing stereo only out of the TV, no surround sound, and the receiver amp is going to sound 10x better than any TV amp & speakers. If anything I'd say you want to hook the receiver between the source and the TV, using the audio line outs from the receiver to feed audio inputs on the TV. Trying to output audio from the TV is really crippling your audio possibilities and quality.
