Ok, if the socket of a chip and mobo match each other that means they fit right?

Cuz I don't have much money right now, so i'm looking at this

AMD Opteron 165 Denmark 1.8GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket 939 Dual Core Processor - Retail

+

Foxconn 6150BK8MC-KRSHN2 Socket 939 NVIDIA GeForce 6150B(PV) GPU Micro ATX AMD Motherboard - Retail

Well, not necessarily. A mobo has to support the multipliers, bus speeds, and core configuration of the CPU, which can vary within a given pin configuration. For example there are single-core and dual-core socket 939 CPU's, and not all older 939 boards can run dual-core procs.

Check the specs on that mobo, but you should be fine with that combo. I imagine that any recent vintage 939 board can run any 939 proc.

BTW my main rig is sporting an Opteron 175.

Yeah, should be fine. It supports X2, which is the same architecture as an Opteron 1xx proc.

Coo

You know what I did? I floppy drive from work got to boot sata drivers from f6 and it smoked my machines, it melted all my power supply wires, it was very weird.

Edit I guess I had a really old floppy drive which doesn't prevent wires from being inserted backwards or upside down...I think I put the conntector in wrong thinking it was right and smoked the machine...

ps. I bought a brand new floppy drive with that. heh
