I just got one of these, charged it up and something like 16 hours later it was dead. Does this sound normal? I hope not. Does it just sound like a faulty battery?

Not knowing which Razr you have, I can only speculate. Here is a forum that may be able to help you, though http//forums.mobiledia.com/topic24228.html

How long have you had it exactly? The batteries usually go to shit after about a year.

The Razors suck!! I say that because of the battery. My wife and I got razors ...1 year later the battery was shot and won't hold a charge for barely anytime. So I ordered another battery and that battery barely last too...makes me think the whole phone is shot in some way.

DO NOT BUY A RAZOR, they suck.

My wife and I have had nothing but trouble with Motorola phone batteries in general. I used to have to charge my Moto phone every night.. but my Nokia 6682 can go 3-4 days without a charge.

When my stupid verizon contract is up, I'm getting a new phone and a new carrier, and i'll be buying a NON Moto phone as collidgegraduit mentioned, the batteries suck.

I like Verizon, but not Motorola phones, my old Audiovox phone was great.

Wow, I'm stuck with this crap for 2 more years. My battery was BRAND NEW, first charge, right out of the box and lasted less than a day.

it strange it is almost a year that i have mine and it been fine,

i only charge it 1 time a week ( it great)

and if something happen, i have bought protection( it cost me 50$ so they will give me another new batterie ( it will last for 2-3 year))

I talked to the phone company I got it from and they said they were suprised that I was having problems. I told them there are entire forum threads dedicated to how much those batteries suck.
Anyways, they said to bring it in and switch it out with (another) new one. We'll see what happens then.
I've heard that letting it lose a charge completely so the phone turns off then taking the battery out, putting it back in, and fully charging it will make the battery last longer. Anyone tried this?

Why should we have to do that though aviendh47?? I can't afford to let my phone die and not be able to charge it or something.

seeing as I mostly deal with motorola phones I can suggest taking denatured alcohol and rubbing the battery contact points on the phone and the battery. clean them off nicely and possibly get a new battery. should help you obtain the largest life out of a battery. also, incorrect usage can lead to quicker battery drainage.

Sure, this is true in general. However, this phone is brand new - I would just do as the service provider suggests, and take it back to the store for a replacement.

Also, li-ion batteries, like those in most Moto phones, should never be fully discharged, instead they should be charged each night. Totally discharging a li-ion battery shortens its useful life, unlike ni-cad batteries, which benefit from deep-cycle recharges.

My razr holds a charge fine... at least for a few days unless i'm using it extensively.

I'd agree with you but I don't even have service on my phone right now so letting it die, etc isn't a problem at the moment. Otherwise, yeah, I'd be pissed.
