Ok, I'm not a TV expert myself, but I recently purchased a new Sharp 52" LCD tv with full 1080p and hd tuner. I have it hooked up directly to my standard cable line, without a digital box. I am able to pick up the nice digital channels like channel 2.2 and 7.2 and 7.3 and whatnot. Recently I noticed that If I tune to channel 103.1... and so on I find HBO and STARZ and other channels randomly show up. Im thinking, sweet I am getting movie channels for free. But then I realized they only show up totally randomly, and sometimes are nowhere to be found. Today I just witnessed something totally wierd, I began watching a movie on the HBO that showed up, and about 15 mins into the movie it randomly began to rewind, about half way back. It played for a few seconds and then rewound back to when the studio logos appeared and began playing again, almost like I was watching someone elses DVR and they were rewinding or something. Anyone know what would be causing this and how I am able to get those channels?

Interference from other frequencies/waves? That's weird as hell. O
That's almost like on my old TV, before we hooked up the satellite to it, and we used the bunny ears...I'd be watching 24, and I would see another show in the background.

its not interference, I can fully tune in to other programs and channels that I am not paying for, but its totally random. I just check the channel and it either says (channel lilili is not broadcasting) or it displays the show.

Maybe you shouldn't pirate your neighbors cable?
Just kidding ... but it does sound like you are picking up someone else's stations.

I just found out what it is, I flipped onto my magic channel 104.1 and I was watching discovery channel... on demand. Apparently I can tune into whatever my neighbors are watching on demand, and I even see when they fast forward through the commercials. this is bizarre.

Are you sure it's not interference? How is that possible unless their cable is hooked up to your TV?

It sounds like to me that you are somehow getting to view someone else's on demand programming.....

That could get very interesting...
I have a neighbor who uses an old cordless phone that bleeds over into my stereo, and it's damned boring, I can tell you. ;)
