I was wondering whats a good program to burn ISO. I just bought a macbook pro and im not sure if you can do it with the software that comes with mac. Also I have never burned a DVD before I was wondering how can I burn movies without copying it from the original disk. Do I just burn the image?

Most burning software today has an option to burn iso files to DVDs. I can't say I know what burning software comes with Mac, but I would be surprised if it didn't have an option to burn iso files.

I don't quite follow the second part of your question ... you would burn the iso to the blank media, yes, but you have to create an iso from the source first.

I think this answers some of your question, but feel free to ask more if you are still unsure )

There's probably some kind of brilliantly-named burning program for Mac....iBurn? I thought all you ever needed came with iLife?

It's easy to burn an ISO with a mac. Just open the ISO in Disk Utility and burn it from there with the big 'Burn' button.

www.woot.com.... they have a Compaq Athlon 64 3800+ Media Center PC for 359....then you never have to deal with mac again and you can very easily burn ISO

Stick to the topic, and resist the Windows Vs. Mac urge.

Thanks guys. I can't believe someone suggested buying a PC to burn CDs lol I didn't switch to go back to Windows. My second question was I wanted to burn DVDs with movies I downloaded instead of ripping them from the original CD and I wanted to know how I can go about doing that thanks.

Oh, well, as long as you have a working Iso file, you can just use burning software and burn it onto a blank CD/DVD (depending on image size).

LOL. I assume you're either being sarcastic, or you're being clever in referring to private "home" movies.

Yeah I was being sarcastic. I can't help it though Ive been doing this since like 7th grade back when HPs starting putting burners on there PCs.

1 more question what format are they suppose to be when I burn them because I downloaded a few movies and some are in AVI and MP4.

If you're burning them for playback in a regular DVD player, then they'll have to be transcoded to DVD format, which is MPEG2 for the video format but the file structure must also be properly created.

I use Nero Vision to transcode PC video formats into DVD's. Can't say for sure what you'd use on a Mac. Doom9.org and VideoHelp.com might be of some help.

IMHO, if all u need to do is install something off of an ISO just mount it on a virtual drive and install, dont burn

Agreed, although with some games you can't do that.

Im not trying to install anything basically what I want to do is burn ps2 games that I download without having the original copy of the game and also do the same with DVDs.

I'll go ahead and assume you have a modded PS2/PS3 so that you will be able to play the burned copies ...

There are plenty of guides online for that kind of thing.

As to the DVDs, it sounds like you are not downloading the whole iso (ie a ripped copy of the movie like you would get in a store), but rather just video files. If that's the case, you can usually just burn the video to a blank DVD and it should work in most players (if the file is .Aviurl==http://=http:///url). However, as dMorris said, you will have a higher success rate if you transcode the video file first. You could even get really creative and create your own menus and things ... That's what Macs are good at. Being creative.

Mac - "Hey PC, want to look at my photos?"
PC - "Why don't I calculate how much time you wasted?"
