So today I bought this router http//www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=5250774&st=Linksys+WRT54G&type=product&id=1051384663529[]http//www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=5250774&st=Linksys+WRT54G&type=product&id=1051384663529

So i got home, installed it using the cd and everything. So it worked fine, I was able to play ps3 and use my internet at the same time. But then like 50 minutes after installing the router, the connection just shuts off. The internet connection shows that its working on my dsl modem but nothing works. Noteven the 192.168.1.1 works. So i unplugged everything and plugged it back in and it worked again. So then again, about 50 minutes passed and my internet didnt work anymore, so I tried it again, lol, and it happened again cry .

Does anyone know whats wrong with it? Is it the settings? I didnt know what to put in this setting

If your ISP doesn't require you to log in in order to use your internet (ie, I could plug in and start surfing), then nothing needs to go in that screen that you posted.

Also, if it only disconnects when you are doing multiple things (ie downloading and playing online with your PS3 while surfing the net on your computer), then it may be that either your router or more likely your ISP is flagging your bandwidth usage, and therefore stops you from using it.

How long after it stops working do you have to wait for it to come back online?

um, most connections use dhcp, not ppoe, unless you specificaly know that your connection is ppoe, use dhcp.

Hold on, we need some more information. Is this router connected to your DSL modem through ethernet? If it is, then you don't need that PPoE stuff since your DSL modem is already connected and authorized. Just set it to DHCP like duel said.

The intermittent dropouts could be due to overloading the max connections while downloading. I know this was a problem on my previous router. I would try to d/l a torrent and it would disconnect and I'd have to unplug the router. The fix to this is to limit the amount of connections on file downloads, usually to 100. If this isn't your problem try Googling for your specific issue, someone else might be having the same problem.

He's not the only one having this issue. I'm on sbc(at&t) dsl, and have the same issue, although not in the same manner. If I shut down my all hardware or if my router (linksys wrt45g v.5) loses power or thedsl gateway loses power, I get the same no INTERNET problem. What I need to do is reboot everthing in order, plug the dsl gateway directly to my computer, surf to a page then replug the dsl line back into the router, and all is fine again. Although minehappens for different reasons, we still have the same outcome. Maybe its the relationship between this particular GAteway and Router?

I have a wrt54g router and I found myself having to reload the cd even if the power went off for a half a second. I have roadrunner and a Ps2 so this is just a guess. When I went to the Linksys website I saw that they had a firmware update that they said was mandatory. Now I have not had to reload the cd for months. I have no idea if this would help or not. maybe?
