Old laptop is a Dell XPS M140 with integrated graphics, Pentium 1.73 Centrino, 60 gig 7200 hard drive and a couple more features like S-video, firewire, memory card reader, 4 usb ports...
I mainly decided to buy it becuase my dell has a seriously ugly screen, regular xga with integrated graphics but my dell is more media based and comes with remote for movies and all that stuff but I never used it...
Tell me what you think? Should I remove Vista and put back on xp pro? Or should I just keep it for 2 months and try to sell it for more on ebay/craigslist?

Looks like a solid laptop for the price. If it has a good copy of vista on it...leave it...or dual boot xp. But I would keep it, laptops are handy ;)

Thanks man...
How do I go about configuring a dual boot? I want to put xp pro on half of the hard drive.

I just had to get a new one cuz I was taking it out of the case after bringing it back to school and I hit it off the edge of the bedpost and dropped it. That had more than just a crack in it.

Its better to do a destructive install of XP and then put vista on top of that. its alwyas 100 percent better to put OS's for multiple boots in chronological order. so if you can put xp on and then vista next on the second partition.

Whatever you do, get a small size, light weight laptop. Don't want to be tugging around a 15-17 inch that is 6 lbs+, especially if you are carrying it in a case.
topbillion I think you got an amazing deal. Though not sure about Vista, as I've heard a lot of problems of memory drainage problems about it. I don't think 1 GB will cut it.

I agree ) I would do a dual boot. My vista was fine for the first month or so now I get intermittent issues ( lost my sound the other day can't get it back lol.
