will this work i want to use my pC and ps3 with it with out going to the back and switching the cables

You have it backwards. Your monitor should have a male plug at the end of the cable. I believe the PS3 has HDMI and component video, so I don' think this cable would work for you.

no my monitor is female at the end i have it right and i have hdmi to dvi on my ps3 which is also male so the 2 males go in to the females of the cable and the male goes into my monitor which is female and the monitor is a dell 2007wfp.

This cable takes one signal and sends it to two monitors, it doesn't take two signals and send it to one monitor.
