what you guys think?
I would say no more than $1000 for your current TV.
The SXRD looks great but it won't do 1080p over component or VGA... If you don't care about that, then I'd recommend the TV you're looking at... Otherwise I would have to say a 61" Samsung 1080p DLP such as the HL-S6188W (currently goes for $2400).

I wouldn't venture to guess what your old TV is worth. I suppose someone might be willing to drop a few hundred on it if it's in pristine condition, but personally I wouldn't sink even that much in a non-HD RP-CRT set even if it is 61". That said, there are some die-hard RP-CRT fans out there who are slow to move into the 169 HD world, so you never know. You might ask around on AVSForum (although they don't allow selling over there as I recall, you should be able to get a general idea of its value).
As far as the Sony SXRD you're looking at, well, I consider it the finest looking TV technology on the market. I have the prior generation, the 60" XBR1 model. Last year Sony released that A2000 at the lower end, and an updated XBR2 model. The XBR2 has a couple additional ports and features, and an upgraded video engine, but honestly image quality is virtually the same. SXRD's are the best looking large format TV you can buy, IMO, which is why I bought it instead of the DLP I was originally shopping for. )

No way. Not unless you find somebody who is fanatic about 43 CRT RP's and can't find them anymore, and is willing to pay any price for one.
It was only $1600 new 5 years ago.

thanks can you answer my other thread too and i put TV on criegs list should i have put 1000-800 on it or should i put best offer?
and +karma to both of you.
Oh, its 43 SD? I guess I missed that one. I retract my statement... But that SXRD is a great TV (i've seen it in person when I was at Best Buy)... Personally, I prefer the Samsung DLP for the extra inch, 1080p over Component and VGA (especially for XBOX 360 HD DVD).

Sony's good, I have the 50" version. I wanted the 60, but I just couldn't make it work in my living room. Anyways, better than the 27" I was watching. Great picture, lots of ports to plug everything in.

I didn't even realize that Sony now makes a 55" SXRD, in addition to the usual 50" and 60" models. Just saw it in Sam's Club this evening for $2300. Not a bad price at all for a 55" SXRD.
