I keep getting this error message whenever I try opening any folder or the My Computer icon on my desktop. It is extremely annoying and I was wondering if any of you have any experience with this or know what I can do to fix it. Thanks, Berk

The second picture is what it says after I click close on the first one.

Have you tried sending the error report, or checking what it contains? Sometimes it will tell you what the problem is, like a conflicting program or a driver that was installed wrong.

While in My Computer...

Try this.

Go to Tools > Folder Options > [View Tab] > Scroll down until you see "Launch folder windows in a separate process."

Enable that. That [i75100f23a5]may[/i75100f23a5] fix it. ;)

I'm wondering if you have a virus... that last screenshot looks like it's trying to run explorer.exe from a temp folder, which is a huge red flag to me.

I would but I can't even get in to My Computer. When I try to go through the start menu and get to it I get the same error.

If I could get a second opinion on this that would be great. If it's true then I'll probably just salvage the data that I can and maybe reformat it?

Ok, I have three things to try

(1)Try deleting the temp files. If you can't get to My Computer, try going Start>Run>cleanmgr.exe

(2)http//windowsxp.mvps.org/slowrightclick.htm

That site seems to have solutions to your problem. However, if you can't do anything, and don't feel confident with the registry,

(3)Boot from your OS Install disk, and select the Repair option. Sometimes this will help to repair damaged system files, such as the context menu headers and such. Maybe it will work for you, maybe not.

Hope one of these things helps you.

OK I just tried number 1, and I cleared all my temp files etc. However no luck, I still get the same error message.
Tmrw I will try the other two you suggested, right now I'm going to bed. Thanks for your help +kma

Yea I'd say thats malicious. This should clear your temp directory. If it will not let you do this, start in safe mode, and try again

Go to Start>Run

type the following commands

cd "c\documents and settings\HP_administrator\Local Settings"
rmdir /s Temp
y
mkdir Temp

HOWEVER a quick google search reveals that this may not be malicious and may be cause by a number of things. Search for "explorer.exe.mdmp"
