Ive been having trouble with my battery for quite sometime now. Last yr, when I got my laptop, i would have a battery life of a little more than 2hrs but not i barely get an hour out of it (i have the same powersaver settings that I had before).

When i sent my computer in this summer to get a new dvd burner (it broke and i had a service plan) i mentioned that my battery was acting up and they told me that is was fine, but im still getting low life on it.

Also, when im unplugged, the battery icon doesnt match up with the time its been off. Itll say 98% until i have 7% left (in which it will say I have 2.5 hrs remaing or something like that).

Do you thikn that my battery is shot? Or am I over charging my laptop like you can over charge cellphones?

Any help would be appreciated. I think i jsut need another battery. And if thats the case, any links would be appreciated.

you can try a complete discharge/recharge cycle. that generally works well to recalibrate the battery's internal measurements.

barring that, ebay for a new one

So basically I just have to let my battery die out?

the exact procedure varies from laptop to laptop... generally speaking you charge to 100%, run a program, disconnect power, wait for it to turn off, plug in and turn on.

fwiw, playing a DVD is a pretty fast way to use up battery power.
