I'm trying to add a folder of MP3s (an audiobook) to iTunes 7.02. No matter how I add the files (either File|Add Folder to Library or by selecting all of the MP3s and dragging them to the iTunes library window), only a portion of the files are added 23 of 38 to be exact.

Anyone know where I'm screwing up? It appears to be the same 24 files added each time. The files that aren't added aren't corrupt, as I can play them in WinAmp.

Maybe it's the tags?

your sure you have the full file? Maybe try Audion 3 from Panic.com to see if the file is working for you.

Yes, I can play each of the MP3s on their own...

This may be a stupid suggestion but sometimes when I have MP3's I have to right click them and then hit Open With... then hit iTunes. Have you tried that? Maybe there's something in the properties that you can change if that doesn't work?

YES! That didn't work quite right, but when I did that it started playing the first track (which it never did previously) and I saw that the Tags on the tracks are messed up for the previoulsy "missing tracks."

Now I just need to find a bulk renaming utility so all of the tracks have the correct title and author.

Any suggestions for that one?

Tag & Rename is great for bulk renaming, but if you need more than that I recommend MusicBrainz. I fixed tags on a couple hundred random MP3's one time and it was awesome. It uses fingerprint analysis to try to identify songs even when the tags are totally trashed or even non-existent. The few that it couldn't identify exactly, it got close enough and helped me ID them manually. Then it fixed up all the tags and renamed them to my specs.

I thought as much. I can't remember the last sync problem I had that didn't involve a tag issue.

Sometimes, neither do I. We just got lucky this time. ;)
