If I got a video card with a DVI output, would I see any noticeable quality increase vs. VGA? I just mainly surf, web/graphic design, photo editing, etc.

I want to get a new one with S-video anyway, I was just curious about the DVI.

If you are playing video I'd say yes...otherwise its probably not worth it.

Besides the analog noise that can be detected on some LCD/vidcard combos, while not on others, there are other reasons to choose one or the other.

With many monitors, DVI disables most of your monitor controls like geometry, color, etc., and instead enables setting these via a software control panel. There are pros & cons to this, so it's a subjective thing, but it's a difference to be aware of.

Bottom line is, if DVI is an option for you, you are usually better served by using it.

Gotcha. Well, I have $40 sitting in Paypal, and Newegg takes Paypal, so I'll probably go with one.

Plus, if it will let me sell my Mac Mini and make a couple hundred bucks, even better D
