Alright, I've been trying to get XBOX LIVE for a while and I need the wireless adapter. However, I don't want to drop 100$ for the thing. So I was wondering if I could just get a regular Wireless USB Adapter from some other brand and hook that up to my xbox 360 for much cheaper. The problem is that I don't know if it will work. Can someone help me with this? Thanks

I've wondered this myself, I've always felt that running a 50 foot CAT5 cable across the house was an inefficient way of getting to the internet creating a very nice tripwire for anyone walking around.

There might be driver issues.. you will probably be better off asking this in an xbox forum.
I know I have the xbox 360 wireless adapter and it works great.
I also, just a few days ago, picked up the wireless headset!

I don't know about off brand ones, but the old xbox ones work. I think you can get them on ebay for around $40.. maybe less.
edit This can be used for all gaming systems.. I'm not sure if it's good or not, I just saw it.
