Photoshop?

Not sure where to put this but hell, why not the tech forum.

I really like the portraits in this photo gallery[=http//www.pbase.com/josel/majesty]this photo gallery and I'm pretty sure some sort of photo editing was done to enhance the eyes or to drown out the background so the eyes become more focused. Anyone know how one would do this? Might just be some amazing skill with lighting so if that's the case, sorry cry

It looks like a lot of post-processing to me. As for the eyes, doesn't he just hike up the contrast? Otherwise, maybe he completely paints it in.
