I'm using the most recent version of Safari and out of the blue the audio for any youtube video [ic685ae82e8]and[/ic685ae82e8] the audio from Pandora stopped working.

(Although I haven't used Pandora in a long time, so I don't know if that problem is on my end or what.)

This problem happened once in the past and I fixed it somehow by restarting or quitting or something, but I've tried both and it still doesn't work.

Any suggestions?

EDIT I googled "youtube audio issue mac os x" (I hadn't thought to google something so straightforward) and discovered that playing music from Garageband fixes this problem, for some reason.

No one knows, eh?

No more TDS clips for me. (

Are you still getting audio in other programs and browsers? I.e., is the problem isolated to youtube and pandora?

Yeah, all other audio is fine. Other audio in the same browser (i.e. from flash programs) still works.

Are you using the most recent version of Flash? Most people reporting similar problems seem to have had success after installing the latest version.

Hmm, I recently updated flash. I don't remember if I did it before or after this problem occurred—do you think the flash update might have screwed something up? I hadn't updated flash otherwise, ever.

Hmmm...I would have expected installing the latest version to fix the problem, not cause it. If I see anything else, I'll let you know.

Yeah this is on a macbook. But I've had it since the day it came out, and the audio always worked fine until recently.

Also, it appears to be all online videos, not just youtube.

Ok, the problem has either been or has extended to all types of movies, in any format (and, obviously, some types of audio).

No ideas whatsoever? This is killin' me.

ALSO OF MENTION This problem is not limited to Safari anymore, if it ever was. It doesn't work in Firefox either.

What version of OSX are you using? Any recent hardware or software installations or upgrades?

I don't recall any significant changes in the softward, and no hardware changes.

I'm running Panther.

You never realize how often you look at videos online until you can't watch them with audio. ?

I'm thinking that downloading an older version of flash would fix the problem. Is that a possibility? I've also looked for it online, but I couldn't find it, so a link would be appreciated.

I did a bunch of searches on Panther, audio problems, Flash, etc. The only things I saw suggested that upgrading to the latest version of Flash would solve the problem.

Alas. Ironic that upgrading was what caused it in the first place.

Thanks a lot for the help, though, Keith.

Apparently the computer plays audio for .movurl==http://=http:///url files.

Does this make the problem any clearer for anyone?
