I am getting this setup for my car. How do I tell how many watts my amp is / speakers are? The speakers say 225 Watts RMS on the box, so does that mean it is 450 Watts? Also, how about my amplifier? It says " Power output 150 watts RMS at 4 ohms or 300 watts of peak power at 2 ohms. ". Is that good for the speakers i'm getting?

What i'm saying is if somebody asked how many watts it is, what would I say?

Two MTX Thunder 12" Subwoofers (T451204)

Kicker Mono Subwoofer Amplifier (06ZX3001)

MTX Dual 12" Subwoofer Enclosure (BS212S)

And is this the right power kit for my amp/subs. Tsunami Amplifier Power Kit (AMP850BL)

It might be alright for the price considering the reviews but I've never heard of this brand at all. Usually the wires and etc will cost around $40-$70 depending on which kit you buy but I wouldn't go cheap. I use a Raptor kit that is set for the number of watts I push. Like the review said, it's not going to be really deep bass that will shake your car but it will make it sound better.

well for $99.99 I can get two of these 12" MTX Subwoofers. Then I would just have to buy a box / amp / wires / install. Do you think if I got thoes subs I could have all the parts and install for under $400? I don't even know what amp I would get yet. I am getting my parents to pay for some of it (don't know how much yet) for Christmas.

I would say you get what you pay for. Stay away from no name brands.

Check out Infinity Refernce Speakers. Great sound for the $

Yeah, MTX and Infinity are both good. Those MTX's are pretty good and definitely would be 5 times better than the first ones you posted. If you got two of those that would be like 800 watts but I'm not sure how many that is RMS. For the amp, you are going to need 800 watts max power (Not RMS) so depending on the brand that shouldn't be too bad. Then a enclosed box would be best plus the Raptor kit.

edit This is what I'm going to end up getting. Do you suggest the Circuit City Protection plan? It's kinda pricey ( $29.99 per sub and $29.99 for the amp ).

Kicker makes excellent amps but that might not work. I can't find the OHM's for the speakers so I can't figure out whether that 4 OHM amp will work. If you know it works, it looks very good.

I was up at circuit city today and he told me that that would be the amp for those speakers. It is also free install on amps $199.99 and up! I just don't know if it's worth $90 for a warranty. Will they blow if I turn them up too loud or anything?

(and that might not be the exact amp.. in the store it was a kicker that was $199.99 so I think it is the same.)

Well, as soon as you get them, you don't want to turn them up past half way for atleast a week or two. It's kind of like a warm up period but after that you should be fine. I have the exact same amp but the 800 watt series and it's a really nice amp. The bass controller is a really nice feature so make sure you show them where you want that. I'd say don't turn up the bass dial passed the 7 mark for the first week or so.
