I got the Dell Dimension 5150 from Freepay last year October

ntel Pentium 4 Processor 524 (3.06GHz, 533FSB)
Genuine Windows XP Home Edition
512MB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 533MHz (2x256M)
80GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s Hard Drive (7200RPM) w/ 8MB cache
cd-rom
19 inch E197FP Analog Flat Panel
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950
Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio

Those are the specs...

I wanted to know is it worth it to upgrade to a dual core... is it that much better and faster than what I have?

Considering the types of activities you use it for, I don't think you [ib3ddf63636]need[/ib3ddf63636] to upgrade. A dual core would def be faster, and its always fun to upgrade, so if you want to upgrade then do it. I think 400 is a good price for your current desktop. Do you have a fry's near you? If so, I'm sure you can find a good mobo/dual core cpu combo with memory and hdd on sale for around 400. Then you just need to worry about a case and a burner, which you could easily get for less than 100, and thats with a pretty nice case. LCDs are getting pretty cheap too.
