Heya guys. My girlfriends laptop has been acting up. When she leaves it on overnight, for example, the screen will be black in the morning, and she has to turn it off and back on to get it working. Also, when she goes into her My Music folder, there are only 20 songs that show. But, in iTunes, all of her music is there and playable. When she goes to the my music folder, the computer sounds like its 'thinking' I initially thought it may be a RAM or harddrive problem. Any ideas?

Specs

Compaq
Turion 64 Processor
512 MB RAM
60 GB HDD

Does she have the computer set to hibernate?

And is she sure that all of her music files are in the My Music folder? Itunes could be playing the music from a different location.

Right click a song in iTunes that doesn't show up in the My Music folder and click Get Info. See where the music file is being held.

Alright, I checked with her. She says the system is not set to hibernate, and the music is supposed to be in her my music folder.

Edit She told me she clicked on the my music folder, and as it was trying to find the songs, the screen went black. The computer stays powered on, however. It sounds like something weird is going on in her my music folder... any suggestions?

she has avg free and spybot, both of which have been perfect for her for well over a year.

your probably right. It could be the Ram. Same thing happened to mine, but it had nothing to do with any folder. It was the Ram.

Is it a laptop?
