Hey, I was just wondering what brands you guys think are the best.

Im going to get a new phone today and I'm looking at Nokias, Samsungs, and Motorolas. I hear mixed reviews, and everyone seems to have a different favorite. I have tmobile so these three are really my main choices.

I was just looking for a cheap cell phone after contract, most likely a flip phone with a camera. It looks like I can get a nokia 6103 for 50, a motorola v360 for 50, samsung t319 for 40, samsung t509 for 50, and the ever popular razr for 50. Im not really too interested in the razr, but my mom acts like she might want one. I told her I heard they were crap, but then again I also know people who really like theirs, and I thought maybe they had worked the bugs out.

Edit BTW, I did already search the forums and found only a little information. I have looked at some reviews online but they seem mixed and its hard to tell because a lot of the phones I'm looking at have the same rating.

I have found that Nokia batteries last a lot longer than Motorola batteries so there's something to consider. What models are available? Do you know?

Of Nokias? The only one I would be interested in is the Nokia 6103 http//europe.nokia.com/6103[]http//europe.nokia.com/6103

It looks okay, battery life doesnt matter too much because I charge it every night or every other night, but my dad has had his same nokia for like 3-4 years so I know they are lasting. My only thing is they seem not as advanced/technological as the other brands but maybe they are catching up. I didnt even realize they were putting cameras on their phones yet.

Samsung all the way baby )

Don't know if you get them over there but the D series rocks, I have had the 500 600 and now using the skinny 900. But I llike the 500 the best tbh.

Bump... ( No cell phone experts here?

I decided against Nokia, so I'm looking at either a Motorola or a Samsung

Nokia is cheap Finnish crap.

I would suggest going with a Motorola (they are by far the best phones in my opinion). I haven't really poked around with Samsung phones much, so I can't formulate an opinion on their phones.

Motorola makes superior cell phones, but that doesn't mean your cell phone provider will not cripple the phones for their gain.

Take Verizon for instance... They seriously crippled the V710 (for example, they disabled bluetooth support and a lot of other useful features like Instant Messenging and E-Mail, just so they can sell their service.)

So check to see if the phone your looking at is crippled by your phone provider.

I agree, Nokia phones are shit. The last one I got the battery life last 7 hours. I returned it next day. LG's are by far my favorite. I've had two so far and I've liked them both.

I have an LG and the fucking display took a shit on me. I've only read good reviews about my phone though, so maybe it was a freak thing.

I cant get LG anyway, Tmobile doesnt offer them. I had a samsung like five years ago, before there were even color screens, so its hard to base anything off that. My most recent phone was a motorola, I liked the features on it, the volume control on the side, simple things like that, though it seemed kind of glitchy and I had to return it once or twice.

If it helps, phones I am looking at are

Motorola V360[=http//www.amazon.com/Motorola-V360-Phone-T-Mobile/dp/B000BVN7H6/sr=1-13/qid=1162352364/ref=sr_1_13/102-9997847-4340107?ie=UTF8&s=wireless]Motorola V360

Samsung T609[=http//www.amazon.com/Samsung-t609-Phone-T-Mobile/dp/B000FQ0TQ4/sr=1-5/qid=1162352637/ref=sr_1_5/102-9997847-4340107?ie=UTF8&s=wireless]Samsung T609

I'm pretty sure most phones have the volume on the side now, but I may be wrong.

I think youre right, I should have been more specific. On a Motorola you hit the volume on the side and it goes down and down, gets to vibrate, then goes to silent. On my dads new Nokia, it goes down to Volume 1 only, to get silent you have to go to settings and change the profile.

lol T-Mobile, probably one of the most incomplete networks I've ever seen.

Well not everyone knows that Tholek. That's why I want to make him aware of it... You have no idea how many times someone asks me why this feature isn't working on their phone. Fortunately for me, my cell phone provider is too stupid to know how to cripple a phone. Well they try, but it's so easy to reverse it.

I just wanted to add some emphasis. ;)

I found this out the hard way once, but my luck wasn't as good.

I've never had a problem with my Motorola V3 RAZR from Verizon, but I know a lot of people hate them.

Does your wireless provider support Sanyo phones? I have an 8300 and it has the volume control on the side that you described, and it's very reliable and has many features

[ie629ed8b6f](It looks like the 8300 is no longer sold, but the 8400 looks like a nice improvement[/ie629ed8b6f]

Wait, wait wait. Wtf is crippled? I mean, I get that certain companies dont let your phones do certain things...how do I know?

I thought about a RAZR, my friend has one and loves it, but Ive heard too much shit on it and EVERYONE at school has one.

And asajax, no, they only carry motorola, samsung, nokia, then blackberries and sidekicks.

Crippled means that some functionality is disabled. I had a phone that's able to be used as a modem for a PDA or laptop, but the carrier it was sold under didn't have data plans, so they had the manufacturer disable that function in the firmware customized for their carrier. Other carriers had the same model phone, but didn't request the firmware disable that.

Howardforums is a good place to find out what's crippled.
