If you are bored and want to help me out with some sugguestions, Please do!

MY PC NOW
Dell Dimension 3000
Intel Pentium 4 3.00GHz (Prescott) - Socket 478 mPGA
512MB RAM (2X256MB) DDR 400 PC3200
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700LE

What do you think of this Motherboard? Is it any good? Or just junk? Later on would I regret not having a PCI express slot?
ASUS P4S800D-X Socket 478 SiS 655FX ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

Hows this card?
eVGA 256-A8-N542-TX GeForce 7600GS 256MB 128-bit GDDR2 AGP 4X/8X Video Card - Retail

or this ? http//www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814133176
It's a little more than I wanted to spend, but is it a good card? Any better sugguestions?

And does it matter what brand of RAM I get?
hows this?
Patriot 1GB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Desktop Memory Model PEP1G3200LL - Retail

Does anyone have an opinion of the two graphics cards? One is 512 and the other is 256 but what do you all think?

And I don't know what power supply I have now (it's whatever comes in a Dell Dimension 3000) but will it have enough power to make all of this work including the graphics card?

hehehhehe

Yeah you can, but you'll have to figure out what socket your p4 needs. Could be 478 or a LGA 775. Just find out which socket and then choose the corresponding mobo.

So your computer has 2x256mb sticks of ram in there or just one 512mb stick??

Just asking as if you have an availble mem slot just slap in another 512mb or 1gb stick in there and keep the mobo.

On another note though, why are you getting a new mobo?? What are you using the computer for and what is it not doing now that you want it to do?

On the same note, if you are thinking about gaming which I assumed you were, the 3gz cpu is fine but you will need extra ram definitly upwards of another 512 or 1gb. Then if you buy a new video card, depending on what you have in your computer (multiple hard drives, multiple cdroms, etc) you might need a new Powersupply to handle the extra load a newer generation card might need.

In my honest opinion, if you want to save money and go with the best option. See what ram you have first whether it be 2x256 or a 512mb stick. If its 512mb stick, buy another 512mb stick or 1gb as a new video card will bottleneck without the extra ram and you computer slowing it down.
If its 2x256mb, sell them on a computer forum and grab a 1gb stick.

Next, I would just find yourself a nice used videocard from an online forum such as a 6800gt, 6800gt ultra agp or maybe a x800 , x800xt. You can find these at a great prices and they will be more that fine for your gaming needs.

You can also sell you video card to cut costs or keep it as a backup.

Here are some great computer forums to buy and sell things on as well as ask questions.

I updated the main post.. how much would the video cards you sugguested cost? And my MOBO right now doesn't have AGP or PCI Express. And yes I would like it to be a better gaming PC for when I play a game on it.

edit and thanks for the links.. i'm looking through them now. I would give you +K but I just did earlier!
