you need to buy this http//www.myradiostore.us/auxadapters/pie/aftermarket/without-changer/alpine-ai-rca.html
when you buy this it will connect to the external cd player input on the back of your headunit then you connect one of these http//www.inkjetcartridge.com/ipodcable1.html and run that to your ipod. next make sure that your headunit has the auxilary function turned on and connect your ipod and you should be good to go

I just installed a new receiver and ipod adapter just today in my car. It's f'n awesome.
I got this one
http//www.crutchfield.com/S-w71oVO9aCZ6/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=300&I=133C8303
and the iPod Adapter
http//www.crutchfield.com/S-w71oVO9aCZ6/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?i=133DC300
Crutchfield comes with all the accessories needed to install (like $30-$40 worth)
Plus I found a coupon code for $20 off, and panasonic is running a promotion so you get a $25 itunes gift card on select models.

i recently bought a similar sony car cd player ("XPLOD" something but my display screen isnt as fancy).. anyway, you dont need 2 cords. i went to circuit city, went to the ipod accesories section, and bought a belkin audio cable. i dont see why the cord you bought didn't work. did you make sure to press the "source" button until "aux" displayed?
See this is what I used http//www.inkjetcartridge.com/ipodcable3.html
But, it didn't say 'ipod compatible' Nonetheless, shoudn't make a difference.
This 'stereo cable' is basically an auxilary cable. I tried for atleast 15 mins in all the possible ways I could think of to get it to work. Then I went to get another cable from the computer, with bigger leads, but that didnt fit into my car stereo. The ones in the link above did not even work from my computer speakers to my iPod, so I am assuming it is the cable itself. The other cable that I got from the computer, worked fine with the iPod from the computer speakers. I will try to get some new cables and try it out, otherwise, I guess I can just use the stereo to rca cable, since I'm using stock speakers.
Thanks for the quick replies guys!
Oh and I got my deck from eBay for only $160 (Buy it Now)D
In local stores, it's going for $250.
