just like the topic says, im looking for a trillian alternative, i recently installed gaim but didn't like it as well.
Is there anything else out there worth mentioning ?

I assume this is for Windows you are looking for? Go with
Miranda[=http//www.miranda-im.org/]Miranda.
It has plugins for any network you would ever want to use, and can be configured to behave and look pretty much however you like.
I've been using it for like 6 years, wouldn't use anything else.

Does Miranda allow you to open up two instances? My wife and I both like to be signed on to AIM on our PC.

Yup, just tested it and it does allow mulitple instances (using different copies of the program)

It's made by AOL still but without all the junk. I haven't tried it yet but looks promising if you don't need all the extras.
