I have been debating with myself for a while now as to weather or not I should get into PC gaming, all I would need to do so is a decent video card... But should I get one? Are there any PC games out there right now that I absolutely must play?

Here are a couple of video cards that are an awesome buy, what do you guys think? Personally, I like the 1st more

Geforce 7600GT(1) http//www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814143049[]http//www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814143049

Geforce 7600GT(2) http//www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814141025[]http//www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814141025

pretty obvious choice, grab the first one because A) lower price B) BFG has better warranty C) most cards perform the same but BFG usually OCs pretty well

BFG is good...but why are you getting a 128-bit card. ( Get a 256-bit card.

It's a bit more expensive, but it serves its purpose. And you get uber warrenties with eVGA. You'll like the card.

It's a little thing, but Biostar also cuts a corner and gives you one VGA adapter.

Try twice as much wink Won't the 1st card I listed run anything I need with suitable if not top notch graphics? (Oblivion on top notch at least)

I personally like eVGA because of their 90 day step-up program. This way, if you have enough money in 3 months you can upgrade your video card and receive full retail price for what you paid on your old video card. Plus, even if you don't plan to upgrade, it is $110 after MIR, $130 before.

I love EVGA, I do. I liked their MX4000 so much when I got my Cyberpower, that I went and got an upgrade from them too (6200). If I had more cash, I'd probably get a GeForce 7 card from them too.

The trade-up program isn't all it's cracked up to be though. When you trade up, you only trade up to the full MSRP of their cards. I was once on the phone with an EVGA rep about another issue, and when I asked about a card on their site, the guy told me that if I wanted it, to not buy it from their site, but Newegg, or anyone else. I'm guessing they don't tape their support calls. )

Why would you buy computer parts from anywhere but Newegg?

)

Well, that says it then. The trade-up program isn't much of a selling point.

monarch computer has really good prices sometimes, ships faster than newegg and no tax in cali?

tax is huge when you're talking about hundreds of dollars in comp parts

I live in AZ so tax isn't really an issue. I guess your point is proven about the trade-up program, but eVGA is one of the best brands out there, and much cheaper in Goooger's case.

I agree. I'd still buy EVGA.

128-bit isnt top notch, those cads arent top notch, top notch is having quad sli. lol.

i have an XFX geforce 7900gt, 256 mb - 256 bit, good specs, its hot.

its not like you really need sli or quad sli these days (even though its nice to have), but i recommend 256 bit.

I have a BFG 6600GT OC (128 mb) and its a great card. I don't do heavy gaming, but for what it is, it's workhouse. Plus, I got it from ebay, it was having rendering problems, and BFG replaced it no questions asked. When I buy a video card in the future, possibly to do SLI, they will receive my business.

Here is a question for the Sli folks. I am planning on taking the plunge into pci-e. I am gonna get an sli mobo but only plan on having one vid card for now. Does it matter which x16 slot it goes into? Or is it just like any other device where it doesn't matter which slot it is in?

I want to keep as many of the standard pci slots unblocked by the vid card and did know if I am forced to put it into the primary slot near the processor...

No, it shouldn't matter which slot it goes into. However, if you're getting a gigantic card, you'll want to put it in the slot that is further away from the other slots so there's less blockage.
