Not sure, I was told that by Canon but they couldn't quote me a price until I sent it back to them. Certain things happened and I ended up not sending it back.
However, my brother-in-law took it to a local camera shop and they said they would do it for $250, which seems high since my brother-in-law took it apart and almost got it working back to where it should be. So if he can play around with it and almost fix it, I can't see it costing a camera shop $250 to fix.

It still works, still takes pictures (just like it did when it came out of the box) it's just that certain features of the camera don't work.

you're joking right? look at some of the other kit auctions that have half as much stuff in them, (lenses are heavy, and he's shipping two for the price others charge for one lens and camera) despite the number of times I've told him ;) he always undercharges on shipping.
