Hi,
Sorry guys, I went out of town and got stranded due to car trouble.
Here's the info.
For $39.95 you receive a coupon booklet filled with coupons, including 2 $100 worth of gas coupon certificates
Each coupon can be redeemed by mail for a $100.00 gas card of your choice.
You simply fill out the back of the coupon with your name and address and mark which gas station you want to use (you have a choice of 12 gas cards such as Shell, Exxon/Mobil, Texaco, Chevron, Arco, etc.) and you mail it in and they send you the gas cards.
I have sent in for them, and got the cards. Lots of other savings in the coupon books too. It's the real deal.
Here is the site link
www.its-a-gas.net

After looking it up alittle bit. It looks like it is legit. People are selling them in bulk all over craigslist.
http//washingtondc.craigslist.org/doc/bfs/381947531.html
If olny we could get them at the bulk price of $14 each D
Sweeney2066

it'd be sick to make money off it or even

JordanE
02-08-2007 00:14:48
It dosen't look like the deal is going anywhere (supposedly the coupon books have been around for 3+ years) so theres no reason to buy more than one copy to find out if its legit or not. Also I don't think that the "its-a-gas" site is the company that publishies the coupon book. Most likely its just a guy who bought them in bulk and is selling them at a 75% mark up on the internet rether than advertising them on his car like the people on craigslist suggest.
mneytree07 most likely either owns the "its-a-gas" site or is getting componsated for the leads hes bring in. I can't think of any other reason as to why he didn't wanna post the link himself. Also it appears that they are mostly being distributed in a "turn-key" type fashion.
Sweeney2066
02-08-2007 00:44:30
I feel you and I know a little bit about affilate marketing
but I don't understand what you mean by..turn key?
JordanE
02-08-2007 00:58:51
A turnkey business is a business that includes everything you need to immediately start running the business. Typically defined as "A product or service which can be implemented or utilized with no additional work required by the buyer"
Things like vending machines, pay phones, photo booths..etc are usually refferd to as "Turnkey businesses" Granted this coupon thing dosen't match up perfectly with the turnkey definition, but it kind of reminds me of one. Basically there buying a small inventory of these books and then selling them out of there cars.

This is from the its-a-gas.net website faq
[ie43a516a87]4.) Do I actually get $100 Gas Cards?
As stated on the coupon the distributor reserves the right to send Gas Cards or Gas Vouchers. If they send a gas voucher you would need to visit a website and view/purchase different offers to redeem the gas.[/ie43a516a87]
I would think they would send everyone the gas vouchers, not cards. Doesn't sound like a good deal.
Jeremiah1218

It also says give them 2-4 weeks to process so I'll let you know in a month or so.

Why would someone sell $200 of gas for $40. Whats in it for them? This is not legit, and by the time you send off your vouchers, i'm pretty sure you release the ability to file a claim with paypal.
dmorris68

A lot of folks say the same thing about freebies -- is this that different? I think not. The person is charging $40 for a booklet, not for $200 in gas. The booklet contains (I'm assuming) a bunch of ads, not unlike freebie sites. There is a marketing tie-in somewhere that subsidizes the gas cards/vouchers.
Note I'm not vouching for this booklet, as I know nothing of it. I'm just responding to your skepticism since it seems ironic to hear a freebie enthusiast be skeptical of how paying $40 can get you $200 worth of gas when we routinely spend $40 or less to get $1000+ plasma TV's. lol
Jeremiah1218
15-08-2007 23:59:27
I do agree with dmorris here, although it does seem too good to be true, it is not like the gas companies themselves are selling $200 in gas for $40, but rather some sort of promotion that is causing them to make more money off putting these types of vouchers in a coupon booklet. I really don't think that this would be a huge scam, at least I hope not.

16-08-2007 06:34:21
Who or what company is sending you the gas cards in return?
Jeremiah1218
22-08-2007 17:29:25
I am not sure who exactly sends them, my guess is they get them directly from the gas companies themselves. I don't know why everyone is so quick to jump at it and say "this is a scam" it seems legit to me, but all I can do is wait and see what happens. If I lost $40 then I lost it and theres nothing I can do about it, but if this is true then I am now going to be getting gas for 5x cheaper than before which comes to about .60 per gallon. Its a risk well worth taking in my opinion.

It seems like it would be easier to bypass the middleman and go to a DIY site and do offers for a gas card. There are a couple Brandarama sites that offer $250 in gas cards for 2 or 3 offers. I KNOW these are legit, because I have already received Mobil giftcards from them. I actually received 2 $100 cards and 1 $50 card, not 1 $250 card. My husband and I split up the cards between us. I got the extra card, of course.
Brandarama does take several months to get the card to you, but I don't mind waiting for these cards since I will still need to purchase gas in the future.
