Early Ultra's had a very bad rep. They fried several folks' mobo's, including the operator of [H]ardOCP.

Later models were supposedly much improved, however I couldn't trust 'em in a serious rig. I stick with the ole' reliable brands of PSU's.

I actually read up on the Ultra rebates, I didn't see any problem even on SD as of late although I remember people having problems with the deal through Radioshack a while back. Got any recent links? I only saw posts in various places saying there were no problems getting these Ultra/Fry's rebates through rebate-zone. I am always wary of rebates but figure I take a shot.

Same goes for quality, they seemed to have problems before like dmorris said but they seem to have stabilized. You get lifetime warranty anyway, I can try it out on a throw away mobo first if I have to.

It's sold out now anyway...

I got a Ultra ATX case rebate. Came in quick and I was extremely happy with it.

Most of the negatives I saw there were in relation to the rebate-zone rebate on the ULTRA 3.5" HD enclosures. There were several threads, IIRC.

Maybe they've improved, but the negatives left an impact on me.

God Damn It. I bought this yesterday and payed $9.17 for shipping and handling.

If you cancel before it ships, then yes, they should refund the entire amount. Once it ships, then no, and you'd probably get hit with a restocking fee of 15-20% if you send it back. You'd probably be better of going for the rebate, and eBaying it if you don't want it.

If you had called while there was still free shipping, they'll often credit the shipping charge back to you. You might as well call now to ask anyway...can't hurt.

Called them up today and they credited me because they said the free shipping is for 5/9 through 5/11 and I ordered at like 1 am on 5/9. There website didn't catch it because of time zones. So anyone that wants this you have one day left for free shipping.

Err, disregard what I said. Duh. I thought you were asking about canceling your order and getting your shipping charges refunded. Not about getting credit for shipping due to the Free Shipping promotion.

Yes, I called and they claim it's out of stock...I'm annoyed, but I didn't really need it, so it's a wash I guess.
