Hi All!

Am needing a ethernet card for my 2yr old E-Machine desktop. Working of course... lol .

If you have one, pm me, and I'll give you all the specifics. Don't want to pay $30 + for a new one if I don't have too. They also offer one for $8, but I don't think it is right for my use. You peeps with more tech knowledge would know better than I. roll lol roll

Thanks guys!

I hope you're drunk. ;)

When I posted, USB dongles and PCMCIA crossed my mind. She could use a dongle, but PCI is obviously best, I know. ;)

See? I told you you guys would know...and you are really talking geek greek to me! wink

Do you need a model number to know which one I need? And how much are you guys wanting? (u can pm me with that info if you like).

I'd actually be able to put the dang thing in all by my lonesome. shock

And someone asked if that was part of the motherboard. Not on mine, but I believe that some older EM's are set up that way, and are a real pain.

Thanks guys....Let me know!

I've got a box of 10/100 mbs of netcomm and a few no name brands, i'll be able to send em up if you can get a quote on how much they would cost to send from aus, they are used so $5 each is fine for me.

Hey There, Good Morning!

If you say PCI is the best, then that would be the one for me. If any of you have this brand, how much would you want? Used but working is fine.
Be nice now lol, you could send me a card made in Yemen, and I wouldn't know the difference. P

Get with me, I'm getting tired of dial-up...sucks majorly. evil

I really appreciate all your help! D

Thanks,

It's the type, not a brand. You need to open your PC to install it. There are also USB versions if you feel this is too much of a challenge.

The link I posted above has some decent cheap PCI cards. I think I have a couple I could spare, but not on hand atm. (I thought they were in a different box) ;)

I'm gonna assume you have cable or dsl. If you have fiber, you'd need a different card, and wireless is another ball of wax.

Okay, think I got it now, usb is simply plugged into a port, and the other needs to be installed...which I can do.

I did have dsl, and if I remember correctly, had a download transfer rate of around 200 kbps. I checked out that link, and if I was happy with what I had, and want to install it, which one would you recommend?

Thanks,

Margot D

On that page? Well, at a glance I'd say the D-LINK @ $9, Trendnet @ $8.99 or Syba @ $11. The Airnet for $4.25 will probably do you fine, but they others are a bit better.

Thank You Everyone!

You guys have been great! My card is on the way and I will soon be loosing the dang worthless dial-up....going for cable within the next year, but will also have a new computer by then.

You guys are all great! D
