Anyone have a promo code for shipping on newegg? I was planning on buying some stuff from there pretty soon.

There's a code for free shipping when you use paypal.
Use codePAYPALFREE
Should still work.

Never mind, it expired.

You might also check out ZipZoomFly.com, I find myself buying from them more often than Newegg over the last couple years. Shipping for most things is still free there, and their prices are often better than Newegg.

Alright, that's borderline thread-crapping. Actually, no, with the tone implied, I consider it very much thread-crapping. Knock it off or be banned.

FYI, a 7600GT is not that "out of date," especially for an AGP card. In fact it's one of the best -- if not [i15ad6163e6]the[/i15ad6163e6] best -- AGP GPU you can buy, so I'd recommend YOU do a little more research before thread-crapping like that, k? Even if it isn't state of the art, what concern is that of yours? People buy what they can justify or afford. Now if you posted with a helpful attitude to say something like "hey, for just $X more you might want to consider videocard Y, as it's a much better card for the money." That kind of help is appreciated, but not the kind of posts that imply someone is an idiot for buying behind the curve.

Liquid, did you search for those on ZZF?

Yeah.

What about a 6200, though? ;)

Not likely. That card is out of stock at ZZF. $399 is probably MSRP, and maybe their catalog script reverts to that price when something is OOS.

I can assure you, ZZF would not be that far off from Newegg on in-stock products, in fact they're usually cheaper even before the free shipping is factored in. But that doesn't do you much good if the card is OOS, so... punt.

BTW to my knowledge, Newegg doesn't issue coupon codes aside from some very rare seasonal type stuff. The PayPal discount mentioned earlier, was a PayPal holiday promotion that was supposed to apply to all vendors that accept PayPal as payment. I'm on Newegg's e-mailing list and don't recall seeing any other promotions from them.

A Newegg rep once "leaked" a code ahead of time when I called about a an item I had been interested in, but it didn't change the start time. I just got to know before it had been published in a magazine.

It might be worth ringing them up about something else and expressing hardship about a price. They might tell you about an impending code.

Thanks for your moral highlights, i apreciate your tone for love and compation.

I dont need you to tell me how to conduct my conversations towards others. I can speak to whom ever i please. I also never used any vulgar language of sorts. Please i never implied that he was an idiot, dont put words in my text.

AND AGP graphics are out of date period. It is a waist of money. The 7600 agp card for 200$ is outpreformed 2/1 by cards that cost 250$ or some even a little less for the pci-x slot. AGP is dead, why must you insult your own intellegence and think other wise? The card is also a 128 bits. 128bits will not play any recent game period.

My intention was never to flame this thread but obviously dmorris68 feels the need for it to happen.

unhappy, if you're so unhappy here, please move along to other forums where your vast technical insight is appreciated. Lord knows we neither have nor appreciate technical expertise here. roll I'm especially intrigued by your apparent lack of knowledge of what "128 bits" means, and your lack of understanding that AGP systems still far outnumber PCIe (not PCI-X as you so intelligently posted, which is completely different than PCIe) systems among people who, for various reasons, are not interested in cutting edge equipment.

Your tone is still unacceptable, particularly towards me. Post again with anything other than respectful, helpful information, and you'll find yourself banned.

Thanks for having my back, Tholek. ;)

Oh, and just to correct your obvious ignorance -- not so much for your benefit (since you're gone), but for those who might have been led to believe your misinformation -- there is no such thing as PCI-X 16, nor is PCI-X in any way related or similar to PCIe. PCI-X is a 32 or 64 bit parallel interface, PCIe is a 1-16 bit serial interface. I just love it when people come off all cocky yet don't know what the hell they're talking about.

http//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI-X

[quotecaaf4bc96b]Confusion with PCI-Express

PCI-X is often confused with PCI-Express, commonly abbreviated as PCI-E or PCIe. While they are both high-speed computer buses for internal peripherals, they differ in many ways. The first is that PCI-X is a parallel interface that is directly backward compatible with all but the oldest (5 volt) PCI devices. PCIe is a serial bus that offers no compatibility with older buses. In the future PCI-X and PCI buses may run off a PCIe bridge, similar to the way ISA buses ran off PCI buses in some computers. This should not be confused with compatibility. PCIe also matches PCI-X and even PCI-X 2.0 in maximum bandwidth. PCIe x1 offers 250 MB/s in both directions, and currently supports up to an x16 standard at 4 GB/s.

PCI-X has a number of technological and economical disadvantages compared to PCI-Express. The 64-bit parallel interface requires inherently difficult trace routing, because as with all parallel interfaces, the signals from the bus must arrive simultaneously or within a very short window, and noise from adjacent slots may cause interference. The serial interface of PCIe suffers fewer such problems and therefore requires less complex and less expensive designs. PCI-X buses, like PCI, are half-duplex bidirectional whereas PCIe buses are full-duplex bidirectional. PCI-X buses run only as fast as the slowest device; PCIe devices are able to independently negotiate the bus speed.[/quotecaaf4bc96b]

So when all is said and done, the OP still does not have a free shipping code for newegg ?

I had the same question when I was ordering stuff from newegg, but after much browsing from google, I couldn't find anything.

Tholek

30-12-2006 19:47:00

Well, if there were a $5 or $10 off code, it would easily cover shipping for an item like a videocard. I'm not saying there's such a code available at the moment, but I think there have been some like that in the past.

Oh, and no problem. ;)

OP = Original Poster or Originating Post. Which I guess would be the same as you describe as TC, but that's not a term I've ever seen in the forums I frequent. Everybody I know uses OP.
