Free copy of Windows Vista and Office Pro 2007

I will just post the link to the huge SD thread
http//forums2.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=380816[]http//forums2.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?t=380816

Everybody's pounding the servers so it may take a while to get through.

If you do both they want a W-9 so you should just do the Office one, which costs much more.

I've gotten a free copy of Visual Studio 2005 through something similar.

Sweet!

I think I'll take Vista even though Office costs more.

According to Engadget, you have to either watch 3 M$ propaganda vids or do three virtual lab activities.

I have already watched my 3 as of earlier today. They all say pending. I read on SD that it takes a day to go through. The best part about this is that I will forget about it until a free copy of vista arrives at my door!

You should get a list of the lessons/vids so choose three and then click "register for selected items" on the bottom. It's a lot easier if you already have a hotmail account since you can just log in with it afterwards.

Yeah I guess you are. When I click it, it automatically goes to the "The connection was interrupted" page in Firefox. (

It doesn't even look like it's attempting to load. I'm gonna clear my cookies and try again.

theysayjump

I believe it only works in Internet Explorer 6 or higher.

Also, I finally got the page to load where you view the clips, but it doesn't work on the site. It gives me a file to download and install, then click View but View only lets you download the actual clip. So after downloading the clip, it doesn't play.

[b7a91f63cc8]EDIT[/b7a91f63cc8] Nevermind, I JUST tried it and it plays in WMP. Any idea if that still counts? Does it have to play the whole way through for it to work?

I'm wondering the same thing. The live ones wouldn't work for me (I think you have to watch them live, like literally, so you'll have to wait and they'll email you 30 mins before it starts), so I downloaded them. I'm watching the downloaded ones right now but I'm wondering how they're even gonna be able to tell if I watched it or not. |

I'm looking at the list of videos right now as the download is playing and the one I downloaded says "In Progress" so somehow it knows I'm watching it.

That eligibility review is what's weighing on my mind. Someone on SD said they might require you to submit a TAX ID or something similar. That's fine if it's a W9, but if it's some confirmation that you're a business owner... (

hehehhehe

03-12-2006 11:41:50

Don't worry about the verification/eligibility check, they said the same thing for visual studio when they gave that away. I doubt they're going to waste time/resources to check and tell you if you're verified like some freebie site either. You'll get it when you get it.

I highly doubt they'll ask for a tax ID. They didn't last time. I think whoever said that on SD just doesn't understand that w-9's don't necessarily need the tax ID number filled out. And remember, they're only going to ask for the w-9 if you want both gifts so you're going to get at least one.

Maybe they'll do things differently this time around because of the sheer volume of people registered, but either way, I would suggest not worrying about it.

Go ahead and post it for sale. And then when you get VERO'd post it again, it will be good for your eBay account, I promise.

Nah go ahead and resell it. The comment on the DVD that says "Not for resale" doesn't apply to you.

It's a little late for that since we just got Norton 2007. lol

Anyway I just installed it. I have a lot of tweaking to do. I feel like everything is zoomed up all close on me and it's really bothering me. I'll have to mess around with the display settings.

So how are you guys liking it?

I fixed everything. WOW this thing restarts fast. It's incredible. shock

Argh how do you get the sidebar on the desktop to be docked down? Whenever I hit the show desktop button it hides the sidebar and I don't want that. Also when I open a program the sidebar is automatically on top of it and I don't want that either.

I just want it to act like a piece of the desktop. ?

I don't see any options to do that.

No, you can't sell it. And especially not on ebay, where MS monitors these kinds of sales.

Technically, that's true. The Office folder isn't marked, although it's likely the disc would have been had it been included.

Looking at the download site, I don't see a disclaimer there either

www.officepro2007download.com

I tend to doubt the key is transferable though. I guess it's possible the key is tied to the registration info you used, so trying may indeed be pointless.

Not sure though, but Vista is clearly marked, so forget about that.

Wow, Sony just sent me a free business upgrade disc even though (as I found out) my laptop was bought after the free upgrade time window. I think I might have been able to milk that for a few were I not the pillar of virtue that I am. ;)
