Not too sure I use DVR from my cable provider but at the linked page it says....

liPut the service to work for just $12.95 a monthli or a one-time product lifetime fee of $299, and enjoy all the things the TiVo service has to offer.

You have to pay monthly now. Lifetime service is no longer available.

Yeah that blows. Hopefully $12.95 won't sound so bad in the future when I get one.

Build your own HTPC/PVR. They can be built for $300 and there's no annual fee for service.

You can choose not to pay a monthly fee by hacking it, and uploading your own listings. Not that I would know how to do that, but I've heard it somewhere.... yeah lol

There are listings out there....I scored my parents old tivo (w/ lifetime already on it) and fixed it so I have that, but otherwise I think I would look into building my own and using Freevo http//freevo.sourceforge.net/

lol, so is anybody interested in my tivo? You can choose not to pay for the service, and do manual recordings, or you can also upload your own listings.

You can still use a Tivo in manual mode without a subscription, you just won't get the TV listings and automatic recordings, Wish Lists, Season Passes, etc. It will still work for pausing/rewinding Live TV, but you have to manually program it to record anything, kinda like a VCR.

That's mighty nice of you to offer, but I have to tell you that -- unless somebody snuck one in I'm not aware of -- there is no such rule governing sale of tangible goods here.

TR and the "go first" rule applies to referral trading. Nobody here expects you to send out a piece of hardware to a total stranger you just met on an internet forum, before receiving payment first. ;)

Feel free to do so if you want, but I can't say I recommend it. And should you do it and get scammed, please understand that FiPG and the mods/admins who run it cannot be responsible.
