Just have her call Cingular and tell them she's going out of the country and wants to use a local SIM card. They should unlock it for her.

Most carriers will do the unlock if you're an established customer and give them a half-way reasonable excuse for needing the unlock (like going out of country, or giving the phone as a gift to a non-customer, etc.).

Edit Heh, just read BVGuitarPlayer's thread, which basically says the same thing I just said. )

yeah she is gonna call them the issue is that they told her at a cingular store that you must be with them for atleast a year for them to unlock the phone. i think if she is a little persistant that they will unlock it.

somehow i ended up w/ a my siemens s66 just fixing itself. A motorola v551 and a sony ericsson t226. So i guess i don't need any more phones.
